Tokio Marine Europe maintains a presence in Spain as a branch of the British company Tokio Marine Europe Insurance Limited.
The Tokio Marine Europe insurance group began its operations in
Spain in 1988 by opening a representation office in Madrid and acting
as a reinsurance company in collaboration with Commercial Union for the
insurance operations of its Japanese clients in Spain.
In 1995, it transferred its office to Barcelona, and in 2001, after
the merger between Commercial Union and Plus Ultra, Tokio Marine Europe
began to operate fully independently. From this time on, the service
stopped catering exclusively to Japanese companies established in
Spanish territory and began to underwrite insurance for any company
established in Spain.
Since 2005, Tokio Marine Europe has had offices open in Barcelona and Madrid.
How we operate in Spain
Our aims are orientated towards satisfying the insurance demands of
large and medium-sized industrial companies and distribution companies
located in Spain.
These insurance requirements are channelled through insurance brokers specialising in the needs of these clients.
Our commitment is to be able to offer a high quality,
professionalised service to both clients and brokers, while maximizing
the creation of value for our shareholders through a careful and
selective policy of underwriting that allows for our stable and
sustained growth.
In order to maintain our commitment to the market in terms of
service capacity and quality, we require a high level of involvement
from our clients in the management of the risks arising from their
industrial and commercial activity, complying with the safety
regulations in force against fires, in favour of work safety, and in
the prevention of labour hazards.

behaviour governed by ethical paradigms, and every day sees the
progressively increasing implementation of Guides to Good Practices.
In this sense we can say that Tokio Marine Europe Insurance is a
pioneer in this philosophy, having prepared its own “Compliance Manual”
and committed itself to its constant monitoring and updating and
to the continual adoption and propagation of Corporate Social
